Dream-like

Dream
Something that you wake up from
Something that can seem to be true
But actually not
It can be beautiful
It can be otherwise

Dream-like
Something that is happening
Just that this time
It's entirely true

Joy, Happiness, Worries
They can all happen together

Of course, being myself
Joy and Happiness are the majority
Being older, wiser and practical (I hope)
I had my fair share of worries too (But diminishing)

This dream-like situation
Is knowing and being with Hui Han
The girl that I've never even dreamt of being close with

Our encounter goes way back to 3-4 years before
While I dreaded going to CCK as a full fledge pharmacist
It turned out to be a pretty good stop at that point of my life
Colleagues are nice and kind
Almost the best workplace in my opinion
If it's entirely rated based on co-workers only (haha!)
And then, the girl aced her interview and become a PT
Ms Liew liked her, she thought everyone would too
And turned out, Hui Han is truly a likeable girl
And I had the chance to precept her
No special feelings back then
She paid attention, took notes, improved
And I certainly enjoyed the process to witness her growth

Fast forward to 21st July 2016
A random thought while having dinner in one of my favourite Jap Restaurant
Why not go look for my dear colleagues in CCK?
Who shall be the one I contact?
A few names popped into my head
But this special one is the one I chosen in the end
A simple Hi!
A simple reply, started this dream-like interaction
And I smiled before, during and after my sleep ever since

Never thought would meet someone that thinks so alike
And guesses each others answers correctly
The feeling of finally meeting someone that knows you
Joy, amplified

My 28th birthday was awesome
A lot of effort was put in by Hui Han
And I've never been so pampered for such a long time
Lunch @ Saveur, Gold Class "Train to Busan", Singapore Flyers, Dinner @ Kanshoku, Cedele Choc Cake, 7+1 gifts
A fine day planned out, someone was still worried that the birthday day might not be pleased

Mankind are fearful of the unknown
Few brave ones chose to charge ahead
Some failed miserably
Some succeeded, momentarily
Some contented
However, ALL do not look back
All had a story to tell

I chose to charge forward again with her
Believing this time is better

Fix what is broken, not throw
Be kind, generous and resourceful
Give and not expecting to be paid back
Love, get hurt and love again
Live, do good and be content
Be trustworthy, keep your words and sleep well at night

这不止made my day

Jesus

Blogger is still alive!

Long long time since the last post, time has passed and things have changed.

Don't know what prompted me to look back at this deserted blog and tons of memories came rushing back in my mind...

Beyond Pharmacy Sdn Bhd is now a reality, no longer a dream anymore. It is the outcome that I have worked so much for as seen in the previous blog posts. Only to realise, this is not the end of the journey, things have just started and there's more work to be done. I dream big dreams, reality hits me so hard sometimes, that I have to admit that I lose motivation along the way. Thank God, I'm not alone in this journey.

Coming back home has never been a smooth transition for me, I was an adult, I felt like a kid now. Closer physically with parents now, but emotionally far. I know I should be grateful, but I felt that freedom is not a privilege now anymore. Things adding up together, is growing up suppose to suck? Or the Man above is really showing me my limits, I'm not broken down yet, does it mean I'm meant for more? I don't know, but I continue to receive encouragements and motivations that I am so grateful for. So, I shall be convinced. Friends are really really important too.

One scary thing that still continue to daunt me from time to time: I constantly thought that I am still 26 years old whenever I am asked by online survey forms. 28, it doesn't justify the place that I'm at now, at least I feel this way. Things that people said and I used to brushed aside in the past are now chasing and trying to bite my tail. I'm the one telling people to cherish student life, I'm the one telling people to enjoy employment, so the wisdom is passed on like that from generations to generations.

Of course, life is not about sulking and sulking away! The satisfaction of treating and witnessing the recovery of a patient is so amazing that it brings voluntary smile on my face and heart. As of now, Beyond Pharmacy is still losing money every month, but I was told to have faith as things will start to get better in time. Know a few great partners in crime, in this hole together, Boon Fong, Kevin and Heng. 3 young pharmacists, trying to do ethical business in this hostile environment. We kept telling each other to make sure we have enough rest, fearing that one of us might collapse soon. The relationships make this journey less lonely, at least for me. And I hope I can be of good help for them too when the time comes.

I felt like I have said enough of work, but that's my life at this point of life! Keeping things afloat and learning every single day. All sorts of people, all sorts of behaviours, society teaches alot.

How strong is my heart? Very strong. What's inside my mind? I guess I know when I read back this post. Time will heal. People will heal. God will heal.

Counting down the days...again

Once again, I'm at the crossroad

But this time round, things are becoming clearer
And I know which turn I should take at the junction now!

It has always been a goal (vaguely at first, still kind of vague now)
For me to have my own business and "be a boss"
It has never been so daunting to think about it as a reality until recently
There's so many things to consider
So many things to decide
So many choices

I realised slowly that I have come to that age (if I haven't realised before)
That parents actually look at you blankly and wait for you to make decisions
Not to say that parents are not helpful (they had always been helpful, even now!)
But I guess that unwanted freedom sorta make me grow up a bit
Just like how I slowly don't need to ask for my mum's permission to open the fridge and eat the ice-cream as I grew older
Just that this time it's scaled up a bit, just a bit

My own pharmacy, the way to go
People may ask why give up the pay in dollars and go after ringgit
I would prefer that motivation and freedom to make decisions
Rather the monetary rewards
Many wise ones said, if you chase after money, it'll be never-ending journey.
Not to mention the journey is not gonna be pretty

Something inside my heart is just burning to make that change
And I just can't wait to see the impact that it's gonna generate
Big or small, as long as I'm checking my alignment with my conscience
I will be fine! In Jesus name!

Just had the once of a lifetime experience to hear Reinhard Bonnke, Daniel Kolenda, Todd White, Peter Van Den Berg and Chauncey Crandall preach.
If only I could look close enough at them, I would sure look into their eyes, to look for that burning flames for God
Ordinary men, not claiming any glory, but divert all to God
"I first become immune to the praises of men, thus it's easier to become immune to the criticisms of men"- Reinhard Bonnke

When is the time to act?

I guess this is the time.

Auntie almost made me cry

Worked in polyclinic pharmacy for 2 years already
Countless heart-warming moments encountered ever since
Being put in such an environment is surely a blessing

Sometimes, the blessings are so huge that I felt like the community is serving me rather than the opposite
Life lessons are learnt almost everyday if you're willing to open up your eyes and heart to see and to feel

A moment of heartache almost always occurs to me when I have to hand over a huge bag of medications to an elderly uncle or auntie over the dispensing counter, while having the thoughts of them digging deep into their pockets to pay for those bitter and intimidating pieces of perceived life saving pills
Why do people need to work so hard their whole life only to reach this stage?
Is that the whole point of life-savings?
If you lack optimism in your life, learn from our uncles and aunties here...they taught me that!

Tears filled up my eyes
Thousand of thoughts rushed through my minds
When this auntie express her gratitude for what I have done few months ago and forgotten about
Trying to "make a difference" is our motto
But I guess this time, auntie made a difference instead
"ahboy you saved me..."
..."no auntie, you saved me!"

Isaiah 58:10-11
and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.

Define "Success" in John's words

At age 15,
I thought if I worked hard enough on basketball, I could play in the NBA

At age 17,
When I then finally joined my high school basketball team, through not the usual ordinary way whereby good players were invited to the training camp. Instead, that egoistic and concerned about self-image 17 years old went up to the coach and asked to be included in the team.

I could easily imagine what would happen if the coach said "NO" instead of "Come to the training camp and we shall see". I would have go back to my NBA dream, without any idea at all what basketball is really about, even might be until this very day.

That very year, I sentenced my own dream to death when I told myself that I was too late, after the training camp. Trying to fit in became my first priority, basketball had took to take a second place during that time. I wonder if I loved basketball then, I really wasn't sure what I was playing, basketball or fit-in-the-team game?

I blamed myself for giving up the chance of the invitation to the team 3 years ago, as I was too in love with football at that time. Basketball was just a game to train my leg muscles at that point of time. I jumped really hard, I ran really fast, I pushed myself to the limit of speed, I was blinded.

Nevertheless, I made the team, I got along with the players well, however my existence was a non-factor. I could either be in the team, or not, it didn't really matter. And I felt that way, truly. Nothing about my teammates, it was about me, trying so hard to fit in that I wasn't showing my true self to them in the first place anyway.

I didn't believe in God back then, but I could remember the magical moment during my last game in high school was nothing short of something supernatural. I would stand on the elbow just above the three-point line for every possession while we had the ball. That night, our point guard passed me the ball more than he usually did. Most nights, I would safely pass the ball away or shoot a three pointer if I'm open. Being in a close game, it would make more sense for me to just pass the ball away, my mentality then was- no mistake=good game. That moment of peace in me granted me an extraordinary insight of the game, that I would demand a screen from my center and make a jump shot off the dribble, not just once, but over and over again. I fought hard with my tears for them to stay where they should be when coach came beside me and said "Just shoot and make something happen when you have the ball" and ordered the team to pass me the ball. We lost that game, we lost the chance to advance to the next round, but I found back myself.

My life took a special turn, not a drastic turn, but a good deviation, from what I first deemed and defined "success" to be like, slowly but surely. I realised that success doesn't need to fit in the world's standards, success is largely self defined and has a lot to do with how you feel about yourself and your conscience. A win doesn't make a man successful anymore, to me. It sank deep right inside my heart, and I strive to live it out.

At age 25,
I love watching documentaries about people, I love how they stick with they original plans through struggles and pain. And what I love most about documentaries is what the subject's friends or family members say about them..."He hasn't changed", "He's still the same", "He still has that kid inside of him", "Money didn't manage to change him". That right there, are successes to me. That person, attaining successes, fighting through temptations that come along with it, and finally became the person that he is today. Priceless, to him and to people who witnessed it.

I'm only 26, I know not much about successes, I might not even reach that caliber my whole life in world's standards. One thing that I'm blessed to know, I live in the moment and I leave the uncertainties to the one who knows about it. I strive to help as much as I can, I control the devil that lures inside of me, and I celebrate little moments in life I smile and cry when things touches my heart...

Nick Vujicic

change the world

Artist Wannabe

Found a new piece of "oasis" in my life..
Drawing with computer (i.e. computer art) has recently become quite an enjoyable thing for me
Not because company continuously came up with different events and competitions asking for artwork, but I just found myself really drawn to making a nice piece of art and actually enjoying the process of drawing them

I've never been good in art, however do have a sense of knowing just exactly what I appreciate as a "nice" artwork
That being said, my works are no where near "nice" yet!

Put one of them here!
This is my entry for Humanity Poster exhibited in SHBC 2013

What is time, and why are we running with it?

Living in a fast pace environment
When walking slow on the street seems like a crime
When slow people have to be tolerated by the fast ones
When fast and high speed seem like what most people are worshipping

Walking past so many souls on the street
Fast pacing towards our next destination
Showing up annoyed faces when the word 'wait' shows up
Stepping on that accelerator like your grandpa owns a gas station
(I have to agree to the thrill of it for this particular case)

We power through our life swiftly
Day in and out
We are afraid of missing out in this modern society
We thrift to be the first to inform and informed
Out-dated is not a compliment for you-being-a-relax-individual

We do it so habitually
So habitually that we think when we sleep the time stops
And every eye opening moment together with sunrise mark a start for yet another race, a race where we do not really think about the finish line

When was the last time you walk slowly and not to worry about blocking people behind you (as a very conscious walker, walking on the busy streets is quite stressful to me, subconsciously)

An incident today at the train station inspired this blog

"As usual, passengers boarding the train are to wait for the alighting passengers to exit before proceeding..I queued up behind a young man, and waited to get up the train just like everybody else.

Train doors open, a white cane came out of the door after many legs as I was looking down. A man with impaired vision was trying to avoid the platform gap and walk out of the train, despite the squeezing and blocking. Obviously he was having a hard time, and didn't expect a help, so he didn't ask for help.

The young man, without hesitation, grabbed the man's hand and asked "Going downstairs, Sir?" And then he guided him down, missed his train, apparently."

I secretly admired and prayed for that young man, hoping that our society doesn't and won't change him.

Whose time is more important? Or is there a difference, at all?
Or it's more about quality, actually?

One Room Flat

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jiuhukia/60268008/
What does One-Room flat lead you to think about?
Does the words "Studio", "SOHO" and "Bachelor's hideout" came into your mind?
How about not so stylish and luxurious?
One room flat is really no room no living room flat, plain, no sparkles...

Last night I stepped foot on the part of Singapore where I thought I'd never stepped on
Singapore's HDB one room flat, the one that you normally watch on TV, whereby some kind-hearted characters in the local drama do their visits to the old folks who live by themselves
The dark and uneventful corridor, with blue coloured wooden doors shut and thick dust built up on the electricity meter right in front of each household
For one moment, my mind stunned and wonder off, I felt my feet shaking as if I'm follow by a cameraman who furiously and attentively filming every single moment of this 'adventure'

"NO", I reminded myself.

Looking down to the bagful of ziplock bags with packet oats and sardines cans, I dragged myself back to work
Initiated by our lifegroup, we were out and about at Jln Besar, ready to make a change, without anyone that has done it before
Yeap, bunch of noobs, trying to bring rainbowSSS into every household in this very quiet corner of Singapore
But with guidance and courage from up above, we acted out as if we were pro and just to carry on the hard earned conversations that we fearlessly conducted and initiated by knocking hard on the wooden doors

It turned out, we didn't really do much talking, we did listening, though...

Most of the time, we stayed silent and listen, to the simple words that needed a company for so long, so long

And then, I walked into my comfy room at home
I slept very well last night, knowing the fact the I should be able to find comfort, very easily...

I'm a Malaysian

1988

I arrived into this world, destined to be a Malaysian
Rather lucky, I was not exposed to taste the bitterness of fighting to stay alive thanks to my parents
So to me, Malaysia is indeed a good place to live in, all along
Like many others, I aced the Moral exams every single time during my 6 years of primary education. As the exams tested our consciences and tested our ability to differentiate right from wrong. And quite frankly I must say, all of us during that age, already possessed simple conscience and ability to differentiate right from wrong, with little struggle.
As for myself, I took in whatever our moral teacher taught us as soon as I think the moral values made sense and do no harm to others. I'm fortunate to have to ability to decipher, and to really practise my values and beliefs without obvious hindrance by others.
And till this very day, I think this subject "Moral" in school have made an impact in my life and is here to stay, and I practise the moral values as best as I can everyday.

To love your country, to respect the elders, look for your happiness by helping others, to not differentiate people by skin colour and ethnicity, to be proud being a Malaysian as three major races can live happily under the roof...and the list goes on and on and on...

And yes, I am and will always be proud as a Malaysian
As I grew older, topics about politics and happenings appeared in the newspaper never failed to widen the gap between my love towards Malaysia and my government.
I guess this statement resonates in a lot of you, "I love my country Malaysia, but I wished for a better government to help my motherland reaches her full potential"
How I wished, for several times in my life, to have the ability to make Malaysia better, in a big big way. Limited by my pathetic knowledge in politics and current happenings, I chose not to play a fool of myself. So I kept quiet, and continue to love my country, in my own sweet world...

Racial remarks and issues, whether you like it or not, will not die anytime soon. Prejudice based on previous encounters and skin colour differentiation is way too common, it made me sad and disappointed whenever I hear such remarks. To be fair, as a Chinese Malaysian, I hear more hurtful and disgusting comments towards other races than my own. And yes, it is totally discouraging and awful, to hear such remarks arrowed towards specific people of other races that most of the time have not done anything wrong but to bear the burden of other Malaysian, who might not be well liked, by many other Malaysians, after all.

And now, after graduation, I chose not to stay in Australia but to come back, only nearer but not back to my home country to work, in Singapore. The entire thought process that led up to this decision is complicated and personal, and I admit at the beginning, I see it as a decision that has no love to Malaysia. Instead of contributing to the healthcare system in Malaysia, I planted my foot in Singapore and gave my very best over here and will continue to give as long as I'm here. Only to realise the existence of a bigger love, love for people, just like moral taught me. But eventually, someday in the future, I hope to be able to contribute in a bigger scale for Malaysia, to help achieve its full potential with the abundant resources. Quite frankly, healthcare system in Singapore is no lack of talents from Malaysia, and many of them are "big shots" in many healthcare institutions and work just as hard as any other Singaporean here. And reality never failed to strike me so hard whenever I detected a slight Malaysian accent from them, that is when my imagination ran wild, thinking that how Malaysia would be better with all the talents back at home. But why, they are not back at home, often left me speechless...

To cut it short, as I realised I have spilled lots of words into this long lost blog of mine. I was deeply touched by the tremendous amount of support and love that people gave to Malaysia. And regardless of the results, we, Malaysian who hoped for a better future has won it altogether, as we will carry on with the spirit and live it in our daily life, just like how moral has taught us in school.

Next turn in life? Choice is yours

Blessed enough...

30/3/2013
Hope Singapore's Easter Service The Greatest Day
Theme based on "The Greatest Day" in mankind history
Easter Day, celebrated by 33.3% of the world population in the world, as described by CIA
What does it really mean to us?

Everybody has their very own greatest day
Greatest day, made up of future hope, past happiness, looking forward, achievements, reaching the impossibles, conquering the tough...

My greatest day, that day I played the best basketball game in my life, that day my prayers were answered, that day I realised that I'm puny.
I cried, amazed by amount of attention been paid to me, by someone who I've just talked to the first time and will never see in my lifetime.
Touched. Period.

How much more it takes to touch you?
Then to see different lives being touched in so many different ways
People of your own age
Holding cardboards saying how their life before has been, and on the back tells you how great it is now

The cardboards, built up my tears bombs, and then exploded in my face

"Suicidal, find no hope in life"
*flip
"Happy, enjoy my life just because I breathe"
(that's it, I shed tears..)

"Skeptical, only believes in science"
*flip
"Science points to God, lucky I've found truth"

"People pleasing, but it's never enough"
*flip
"I find peace in pleasing the one and only one"

"I bitch around just to fit in"
*flip
"I speak kind words, to encourage"

You see people's life changed, right in front of you, knowing that they can only tell the truth
What's more touching than that?
Free-will, what is given to us.
Choices, we make in life thru free will.
Destination, defined by choices.
Happiness, ultimate destination...

The End of Pre-Reg

After absence for almost 1 whole year
Coming back, trying to recall and write

2012, busy much?
Yea I guess so
For most part of the year my life was filled by studies and of course, work
In order to pass 2 of the possibly most important exams of my life
Never had worked so hard on studies all my life
Don't know where I've got this determination from
Nevertheless, I passed both of them!
Unofficially practising as a Pharmacist now! :)
Thank God!

So...
Going from: studying non-stop after work till sleep at night
To: NO studying non-stop after work till sleep at night

I guess I can start to understand the mind of workaholic
Like a locomotor, constantly occupied had been a routine in life
I must admit that it wasn't easy to stop that motion
However, with Denise's ideal laid back lifestyle and her degree in Relaxation
I slowly learn to relax and slow down
In fact, my new year's resolution:
Patience
To slow down and look at the world sometimes

When asked, Adelaide or Singapore?
I can't really answer that question well
A-town, was basically relaxation plus a bit of studying for me
Singapore, a city that is so much more happening, and supposedly more things to do
I found it easier to do more things in A-town instead
Of course, the comfy living environment that my parents had provided for me in Aussie kinda spoilt me
Was reluctant to accept my current living condition, very reluctant, at some stage I was hating it
I complained, I mumbled my disapprovals, I felt sad for myself...
I even relate my failure in life to it...
IM A SPOILT BRAT!!!

I must deal with my emotions in the end
By fate, I was placed in Toa Payoh Polyclinic Pharmacy
The demographics of our patients is interesting
And inspiring for a spoilt brat like me
Almost everyday of dispensing is like a life lesson to me
Interacting with our elderly population, you can't help but to smell the bitterness of their life every time they walk over to the payment counter after telling you how expensive are the colourful tablets that they had to buy to keep them alive

At times, I had tears running round in my eyes
But I felt so helpless as much as they do, I don't know what else I could do to help them even more...
Everytime I feel helpless, it just planted yet another seed in me, to work hard to change that situation that I can't do nothing about at this stage of my life

So, coming back to this spoilt brat
I realised how fortunate I am, as always, needs reminding
Slowly, I stopped looking for people to move in and replace me
I bought equipments to clean up the house
I organise my little corner and make it as clean
I still refuse to cook though :P

I'm blessed, truly blessed with all the people God put into my life this year in this new place
I've got an amazing preceptor, Ms. Anna Liew, she totally set a perfect example of how a pharmacist and teacher should be like to me
I've got awesome colleagues from TPY Pharmacy!
I've got great Jedi One brothers and sisters to share my life with frankly without any worries at all (although I had not been an obedient one, but they never gave me up, just like the one above!)
I've got the best family ever, dad and mum still are dad and mum that I came to know Day 1 of my life (of course, a fat and cute sister)
I've got a cute girlfriend too! Without her my life in sg would be a hell of a lot dull (No movie partner, no dinner companion, no shopping mate, no people to kacau, no soulmate!)

I know, I know...the ACL tear
Already a year, and I still can't play properly
Yeap, all my fault, I've got no patience
I rushed back to the court too quickly
I get hospitalised the second time
And it feels like an old man's leg now
Or maybe, it has already gone tad better after the PRP injection
Who knows?
I do know, I just have to be a good boy until it's time
I'm scared, and sad
Basketball, I just wanna play you once again, pain-free and worries-free
Will I ever get this chance? I'm only 25

Bought a new car

Bought a new house (not seen it personally yet, haha)

Life ahead...
Ohyea, the world didn't end in 2012...so...
Continue to learn in 2013
Pick up and brush up a few more characters of Jesus
Travel around more!
Be a good boy to everybody!
Learn to give more, take less
Lastly but surely, be happy :)

A pre-reg's first month

It's been almost a month since I stepped into the workforce
Time passes by slowly and quickly (sometimes fast sometimes slow I dunno why..)

It did not turn out as expected, in a rather good way
I expected a stressful working environment (it gets stressful still, but not in a stress to please people way, meaning, not much politics, or rather, im pampered by colleagues)
I expected an all-english environment (nope we talk in singlish, mandarin, hokkien, malay, teochew...etc. in the pharmacy)
I expected all work no studies (yea I got this one wrong, it's work + studies!!! double dose of hardwork everyday!!!)

So yea, being the minority, I'm taken care by all the colleagues there
People are so helpful that sometimes i must refuse the help kindly
What more to say? Colleagues are organising a trip to JB for a makan trip..
Yes, we're getting along well :)
And they would bring me out to good foods!
Pharmacy people can seriously eat! Which is good! haha!

As time goes by, the more I learn, the more things I am able to do
And of course, then it comes responsibilities
To be able to interact with patients, and to make a positive change in his/her life is something that I strive to achieve everyday
And to point out critical clinical corrections, is definitely a rewarding process for me as a pre-reg pharmacist
It makes me feel like, oh yeah, I didn't waste the past 5 years in uni!
But of course, being a mediocre pharmacy student, my clinical knowledge is definitely not up to standard
Talk about studying hard in uni, I surely did not do well in that area of my life haha!
But hopefully it's not too late, hope the experience in pharmacy would open it up for me
And the drive and determination to learn more would help me to strive...

Waking up early in the morning is something that I try very hard to do since then..
Sometimes the thought of "what should I do in order to continue earn money and don't work?"
That's a question for 5 yr old, simply "NO"
But keep the imagination and vision alive, who knows someday it might happen :p

There's plenty to do in pharmacy..
I'm happy to give a jobscope preview :)
And of course many stories & encounters with doctors and patients to tell!

This job gives me the opportunity to train my patience, alertness, multi-tasking skills, communication skills with many languages and of course problem solving ability and self discipline
I'm lucky enough to not worry about the salary and just focus on learning new stuff at work
Guess that's the right focus that I'm having, hopefully!
Altho I want my Volvo and bungalow badly, but those don't come without smart and relentless efforts
OK, jus a start, fight hard!!

leap year?

time flies, let's fly

Saw Mr. 杨俊斌 today
A familiar face, throughout my 6 years in high school
Of course, after 5 years of graduation
I wouldn't expect him to remember me
Given that he has taught so many students..

He remembered me!
Time flies..
11 years ago he was my history teacher
Till now I still remember how he taught history in class
With all the colourful reference books and background stories
I think I fell in love with history because of him
That's how good he is!

People who has seen me grown up
Now witnessing me stepping into the workforce
Starting to earn my first dollar in a full time job
That reminds them of their age
Not necessarily in a depressing way
But rather a rejoice, a genuine expression just to see someone they know do well
I felt loved, A LOT!
That gave me confidence and enough stamina
To stay strong and embrace the challenges ahead

And friends around me are doing well
Heading forward in different directions
But towards a better future together
That positive energy is contagious
And the constant encouragements we have for each other
Simply amazing!

Last but not least, a loving family & faith
Wouldn't have done it without them

Are we losing it? To technology

Born in 1988
Certainly the word "internet" wasn't heard of..in msia at least
Yea probably not much, but I did grow up fighting for toys with others
As the eldest, I didn't have to fight a lot for toys
But when I did, and when I lost the 'fight', I had to wait
Patiently or impatiently, I waited
We even take turns, to have a go at Super Nitendo (yes the console with cartridges inserted)
And then, we grew up...

Technology has an exponential growth nowadays
The speed of a processor just got faster and faster
From floppy disk to iCloud, it took less than 20 years
Less than my age, yeap!
And those price tags of computers are at a constant battle with time
Losing its value in every second, a tech product ages quickly

Take a look around you
I bet you're reading off a screen
You're surrounded by technology
It's inevitable
It's essential
It's constructive, but I think, yet destructive in a way
Ironically, without it, I wouldn't be able to write this post
And you wouldn't be able to read it too
YES, it's ESSENTIAL!

It doesn't happen everywhere, but surely somewhere
Take a step away from a group of people, a family for examples
Look at them..
There's 5 of them
But all you could hear..sound of a keyboard, artificial fruit slashing sound effect, news report from a tv channel, the leaked music from someone's earphone, occasionally, the dad's cough or the daughter's sneeze
Weren't there suppose to be any conversations?
They're so close together physically
But they're so far away..
So far away that you tell facebook (the world) your problems and the person sitting right next to you has no idea that you're struggling at all
To me, that's sad, really sad
Imagine just 10 years ago, just picture it, the differences

I know this is not something new, or some new phenomenon that I've just discovered
It's known, that this world is getting smaller. However, the distances apart between humans, are they getting any smaller, too?

Certainly, some communities are doing better than another
Some appreciate the closeness and warmth of a random conversation
Some would regard a stranger who starts talking a weirdo or a fabulist

Have facebook checking become part of your life every 30 minutes?
Anticipating that notification have become your second nature?
The words you utter everyday just got lesser and lesser?
These aren't wrong, in a sense, they're totally fine and normal to do actually

BUT, are you ignoring the person sitting just less than a meter away from you
Or is he/she ignoring you too?
And you both are just staring at a warm but lifeless screen of incredible resolution, but not noticing a being with 37.4 degree Celsius body temperature?
Why not just start a conversation?
Why not just ask "how are you?"

What is love?
I just know that it's more genuine between two living beings that communicate
Come on, tell the world that you're actually alive!
Take the time to listen, and be patient please, we humans are not as fast as machines sometimes..
